 Achievements

Mrs Ranu Mehta-Radia

Congratulations to Smt. Ranuben Mehta-Radia who won the Volunteer Partner Award at the last Harrow Heroes Award ceremony from the 150 names that had been put forward to Harrow Council and judged by a panel which included the Harrow MP Rt. Hon Tony McNulty, Home Office Minister.

She has worked tirelessly in running Sai School of Harrow, the largest supplementary school promoting citizenship values amongst ethnic minority children enabling her 500 pupils to work with 12 local charities to support disadvantaged causes. She has also been fighting inequalities for people with learning disabilities through Community Link Up, a Pinner based charity where she has initiated projects which have won national recognitions

Besides taking care of her husband Atul and children Devi and Rishi, she always finds time to contribute to events like Under One Sky, Festival of Lights and Disability events. Last year, she was the creative head for Diwali in London which attracts 15 to 20 thousand people at Trafalgar Square annually.

Building bridges and breaking barriers is something which she constantly aspires for and wants to leave as a legacy her students and youths to feel a sense of pride in being British and apply their Hindu faith in making a difference to the communities they live in. Ranu hails from the illustrious Mehta family of Porbandar and is married to Atul whose father Pujya Bhanjibhai Radia was a pioneer in starting Sai activities in the UK.

Interested In Becoming A Councillor

More women, ethnic minorities and young people are being urged to become local councillors as part of a new campaign. The 'Be a Councillor' campaign aims to make council chambers in London representative of the communities in which they serve. Women make up more than half of London's population but hold less than a third of council seats in the city. The campaign is organised by London Councils, the cross-party body which represents all 33 London boroughs.
